The Road Ahead
Hey Weirdos! I wanted to drop a note and let you know where we are and what the next couple of months bring us here on the Hoosier Heritage Homestead.
During the last week of March we took the kids to Springfield, Illinois to see the Abraham Lincoln museum, library, home, and tomb. It was a great little getaway to get to make some memories with the kids that did not involve working on the house.
Since we have returned, we are singularly focused on getting the house wrapped up.
If you joined us for the March LIVE Farmhouse Tour you can see that we have been making great progress. As it stands right now, the house is:
Framed
Plumbed
Wired
Insulated
Most of the HVAC is Installed
and the outside is totally done, minus a deck we want to add out the back.
Now we are turning our attention to one of the biggest tasks of the whole build…drywall! During spring break we had 100 sheets of 12 foot drywall delivered to the house and for an extra $200.00 we hired to have the drywall carried into the house #wortheverypenny! Last week we started installing it and it is slowly but surely going to get all hung.
I have had it as my goal to have the house completed and ready to move into on June 1, 2023. As of this writing that is 51 days away. I know this is an aggressive goal, but we are going to get as close to it as possible.
I wanted to let you know that this means that I am going to take a writing and video production break until after we get moved into the new house. We are still going to produce Family Table, our weekly podcast, and Elizabeth is still going to be sharing her recipes here on this site. Elizabeth is going to share more content moving forward on our Facebook page! There she will be posting pictures, and short videos, as well as updates into our day to day journey.
In the next 51 days I need to:
Hang and finish drywall
Paint
Install ceramic and hardwood flooring.
Paint and Install Kitchen Cabinets
Interior doors and trim
Sell our current home
and all other miscellaneous things that go along with finishing a house.
So if you would be thinking and praying for us that would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to writing my next big article and producing our net videos in our new farmhouse!
Thank you all!
